Title:

A History of Surgical Attire

Description:

While today's medical professionals will often be clothed in the colorful options of modern uniform companies like Angelica scrubs, it was often the case in early surgical rooms that doctors and nurses did not wear any sort of specialized clothing. There was no attempt to make an environment clean and even surgical utensils were not sterilized. Surgical environments were not regularly sterilized until the 1940s and modern medical attire was not really in place until the 1970s when the simple green cotton pants and short-sleeve uniform common for decades was introduced to the medical world and was made popular.
